New Season – First Club Day

The first Club Day  of the 2018-19 season saw the first round of the Knockout Cup held at Horseshoe Lake.
Fishing in the first week of the new season had been good and with the long awaited fine weather expectations were high and it turned out to be a very close match.

The winner was Colin Fisher who draw the end peg 40 and fished a long pole to the far bank on pellet to weight 64lbs.

Close behind and joint second were Jason Chatham and Ray Torrington both on 61lbs. Jason draw peg 9 and fished a feeder to the central reedbed then switched to a pellet waggler fished in to the reeds to tempt the carp along with some explosive action!

Ray Torrington was on peg 19 and fished at 9 metres on pellet and worm then to the right hand margin on cat meat to catch bream and carp.

Third place went to Nigel Collis on peg 17 who had a mainly bream catch of 47lb 15oz.

The next match on the 13 May will be at Lake Ross for the second round of the Knockout Cup and the Doxham Rosebowl.
