A pair of Grey Lag Geese have decided to nest at the lake while it was flooded.
Now the water has gone down a lot the nest is behind Peg16 in the bushes, please be careful when walking in this area.
Be Warned - the incubating bird will jump out at you!
The nest may have been much closer to the water when they started building!
The hen bird will incubate for around 28 days resulting in some fluffy young, as seen below, unless if our resident mink or another predator gets them!
The geese normally mate for life and lay a clutch of three to five eggs; the female incubates the eggs and both parents defend and rear the young.
