After the recent rain the River Welland through Deeping St James at Roadside continues to fish very well with nice flow and good colour.
A day ticket angler had a great day's sport on only his second visit to the water, Harry Murphy who usually fishes commercial venues tried his hand at some winter roach fishing and wasn't disappointed.
Fishing down the middle of the river on breadpunch he caught fish throughout the day with the majority in the 2-4 oz size with the odd larger fish to finish with a total weight of 29lbs.
Two of the clubs committee members were also fishing and next along downstream was the clubs head bailiff Ray Torrington who had a short afternoon session and finished with 16lb with a few fish going over the 1lb mark.
Also further along was the clubs chairman Andy Wilson who doesn't fish rivers very often, but was rewarded with a 13lb bag of roach to 1lb and has wetted his appetite for another session down there soon.
