Kingsland near Coates and the venues Silvers Lake was the destination for the 12 anglers on Fathers Day. Warm with light winds and the possibility of a quick rain shower greeted the anglers with conditions at the lake looking favourable for a good day’s fishing.
Round 2 of the Fenland Cup series and current holder Pete Wray would be looking to add valuable points to retain the Cup. Anglers would also be competing for the Exeter Cup. This trophy was donated by the Marquess of Exeter (Burghley House) whose daughter is Lady Victoria Leatham and is the club’s patron.
Finishing in first place on the day and adding a second 10 point tally to the Fenland Cup was Jason Chatham, finishing with 45lb 9oz from Peg number 5. Jason caught the majority of his weight during the afternoon in the margins on sweetcorn using top 2 +1.
Second place on the day was Pete Wray with 31lb 3oz from Peg number 1. Pete rotated methods all day but caught short on top 2 + 2 on pellet.
Third place was Dave Marzell with 28lb 4oz from Peg number 6. Dave caught in the margins on bread using top 2 + 2.
