How does it work ?
One week before the match we will send out an email with an update on venue conditions and ask for a reply from anyone interested.
Two or three days before the match a confirmation email is sent just to confirm numbers and any venue specific details and timings for meeting up.
On the Day :-
Meet between 08:00 and 08:30, Draw at 8:30
Fishing from 10:00 until 15:00 (14:00 in winter)
Weigh in takes 45 minutes to 1 hour.
Anglers can also just turn up on the day, but it helps to know the number of pegs to allocate to the match before the draw.
How much does it cost ?
We have a £1 peg fee that goes back into the Club
Pool entry is optional but we usually put in £4. The pool pay-out depends on the number of anglers
On non Club venues there is also a day ticket to pay to the fishery (£8 for Decoy)
What are the trophies ?
The Club has a long history and with it comes a number of trophies that date back many years.
Most Club Days are associated with a trophy or a progression through a competitive series.
See here for a full list of trophies and a link to recent winners.
Keep nets – Loan nets can be arranged, please indicate in your reply.
Club Cups – We now almost have an individual trophy/cup for each event, more info to follow.
Prizes and Pools – On the day for those interested a prize pool will be created and the amounts for 1st, 2nd & 3rd declared. If numbers permit two pools will be made from all match and all leisure anglers with prizes for each pool..
Pegs – To ensure knowledge is shared leisure and match anglers will be on alternate pegs wherever possible.
All attendees on the Fur and Feather match in December will go away with a prize, such as a bottle of wine or box of chocolates, etc. as in keeping with the clubs tradition.
Venue Subject To Conditions – These will be decided in the week leading up to the day, mainly due to conditions of the venue and also to take advantage of venues that are fishing well at the time. Once decided then the venue details will be sent out via email and on DSJAC Facebook page.
Please Note:- Visiting Matches – Peg availability may be limited at the venue, contact the Club Day organiser for latest information – firstname.lastname@example.org
Club Day Organiser – Jason Chatham
Jason Chatham is our Club Day Organiser and he has just just completed a very successful 2020/21 season of events.
Jason works full time for British Telecom in London as a Software Engineering Manager, delivering websites for the BT and EE brands.
He began his angling passion many years ago when he was 8, not too far from the banks of our Horseshoe lake over on the River Nene at Yarwell Mill.
Jason says “This year, I am hoping to continue to build up the number of attendees at our fun and very sociable Club Days.
They really are a great way to improve your skills and even learn new techniques from the other anglers, who also offer sound advice and opinions on tackle and baits. In addition, you get to fish a variety of venues, like Decoy Lakes, and see some great catches.
Anglers of all abilities attend the Club Days and we are always looking for ways to include more people.
If you have any suggestions as to how we can be more inclusive to increase attendance, please get in touch.”
