Not many club’s can hold a competition in this format by using their own River stretch and Lake to fish a pairs match. Following on from the successful trial last winter, we decided to fish the Annual Pairs Cup on 2 different venues.
All anglers got to choose their preferred venue and with a little adjustment everyone got their first choice. Split nicely with 6 anglers on Horseshoe lake and 6 anglers fishing the Sibson stretch of the River Nene adjacent to the lake.
Normal draw for each venue, but a post match draw would decide on the pairings.
Antony Johnson led the way on the lake with 151 lbs 8 oz from peg number 19. Antony fished a hybrid feeder and pink wafter over particles. Starting at 23m, dropping back to 15m and finishing in the margin.
On the river Stephen Smith finished with 9lb exactly, 2 oz ahead of Second place Dave Preston. Stephen fished the 4m whip on hemp changing to single maggot towards the end over ground bait.
