Match Result: Sunday 17th August 2025 Venue: Decoy Lake - Lou's Second visit of the 2025-26 season to Decoy Lakes near Whittlesey for this club day event. The last time we fished Lou’s Lake was July 2020 and we were just emerging from the Covid pandemic. Twelve anglers booked in for the tight horseshoe shaped Lake which is always good for the close social atmosphere. It would be the fourth and final round of the Fenland Cup with current holder Pete Wray hoping for a disaster for the 4 anglers above him to retain his title. Current Leader Jason Chatham needed to finish 5th place or higher with many other permutations for the anglers below needed to take the Cup. Today, anglers would also be competing in the Dennis Clarke Cup, which was donated by Nobby Clarke who owned the tackle shop in Deeping St James. The current holder of this cup is Pete Wray. Drawing the “flyer” doesn’t always mean it’s in the bag, but Pete Wray set off quickly in this match from peg number 6. Pete fished a hard 6mm pellet at 13m on the pole over 4mm pellets. Later in the match he switched to closer in on 2+2 and then just top kit on 6mm pellets to finish with 120lbs 13oz to retain his Dennis Clarke Cup title. Second place on the day and Fenland Cup Winner was Jason Chatham. Jason could not get any fish to feed on the deck and switched to 6mm pellets shallow at 13m against the bank on peg number 1. Jason finished with 82lbs 4oz with the majority of the weight coming in the last 2 hours. Third place went to Phil Price with 54lbs 1oz from peg number 10. With the fish not taking up in the water on his pellet waggler, Phil switched to rotating his margins with cat meat to the left and dead reds to the right. All to fish for in the final round of the Fenland Cup next week at Decoy...
Match Result: Saturday 9th August 2025 Venue: DSJAC Horseshoe Lake Every angler knows that the later on in the day, the more the fish bite, so we run an evening match once a year just to prove the theory. This year we changed from Sunday to Saturday to try and improve the turnout. Fishing from 3pm until 8pm, twelve anglers enjoyed the end of a warm sunny day with light winds on the club’s own Horseshoe Lake. Today was the second round of the Wade Cup as well as the John Slack Memorial Cup. Current Wade cup holder Stuart Baxter would be looking to close the gap on this year's leader Antony Johnson. Phil Price would be looking to retain his John Slack Memorial Cup. First place on the day was Ray Torrington with 136lbs 1oz from peg number 16. Ray fished a floating pellet on the pole, switching to paste in the margins later on. Second place was Jason Chatham with 127lbs 10oz from Peg number 38. Jason fished the pole at 13.5m using 8mm banded pellets shallow. Third place was Phil Price with 61lbs 13oz from peg number 35. Phil fished pellet waggler to start with and switched to floating bread later on. Sections Wins for Joe Price and Alan Thomas. Side notes from the day include – The fist fish being hooked at 1:45pm (Phil Price). One angler allowing a 15lb Carp to leap from his landing net and missing his keep net (David Pike). Another angler making several trips to the far bank to retrieve his pellet waggler (Alan Thomas). Full Result 1st Ray Torrington 136 lbs 1 oz – Peg No. 16 2nd Jason Chatham 127 lbs 10 oz – Peg No. 38 3rd Phil Price 61 lbs 13 oz – Peg No. 35 4th Joe Price 54 lbs 10 oz – Peg No. 19 5th David Pike 54 lbs 2 oz – Peg No. 18 6th Dylan Baxter 45 lbs 8 oz – Peg No. 12 7th Neil Speechley 35 lbs 9 oz – Peg No. 11 8th Alan Thomas 29 lbs 5 oz – Peg No. 39 9th Pete Wray 28 lbs 8 oz – Peg No. 33 10th Alfie Kendall 25 lbs 8 oz – Peg No. 14 11th Stuart Baxter 18 lbs 7 oz – Peg No. 36 12th Lee Annis DNW – Peg No. 31

Match Result: Sunday 20th July 2025 Venue: Kingsland Small Lake Second visit of this season to Kingsland Lakes and it was the Small Lake for the 8 Anglers who were prepared to risk the weather. Rain was forecast again during the day but at least the temperature had dropped to a more normal level. Lots up for grabs today with this being the third round of the Fenland cup with points at stake. The committee in full attendance would compete for the Committee Cup. Whilst the Newman Cup would be fishable for everyone. Ray Torrington was the man to beat today landing an impressive 218lb 7oz in a 5 net haul. Should have been slightly higher, but a few pounds and ounces over in a couple of nets saw them rounded down. Ray stuck with 6mm hard pellets on the top 2. Second place with a fantastic first match away from our club lake was junior member and work party stalwart Dylan Baxter. Fishing from the start with some “special 11mm oily black pellets”, he was free lining using an 8 foot rod into an area of feeding fish all day. Dylan was consistent with his 5 nets, just a few pounds short in each, but finished with 155lb 7 oz. Dylan was even happy to share his technique and bait with other anglers !! Third place was Dave Marzell with 118lb 14oz. An impressive display of accurate clicking saw Dave just 1oz and 6oz below the 50lb limit in a couple of nets. Dave’s tactics of avoiding the extremely large number of small carp that the lake is infested with, was to fish paste on the top kit. Full Result 1st Ray Torrington 218 lbs 7 oz – Peg No. 2 2nd Dylan Baxter 155 lbs 7 oz – Peg No. 5 3rd David Marzell 118 lbs 14 oz – Peg No. 1 4th Andy Wilson (chairman) 108 lbs 6 oz – Peg No. 6 5th Neil Footitt 98 lbs 11 oz – Peg No. 4 6th Phil Price 96 lbs 9 oz – Peg No. 3 7th Stuart Baxter 73 lbs 13 oz – Peg No. 8 8th Jason Chatham 59 lbs 1 oz – Peg No. 7

Match Result: Sunday 6th July 2025 Venue: Float Fish Farm - Captain Tom's Following the Algae bloom crisis at Float Fish Farm this would be our only visit of the year to the local fishery. The Met Office had issued a “severe storm” warning for the region and no-one was sure how Captain Tom’s lake would respond. Ten anglers braved the weather and brollies were needed as they set up. The anglers would be competing in the John Harris Memorial Cup. John Harris owned the Tackle shop and general stores in Deeping St James and the current holder of this cup is Pete Wray. David Pike finished in first place with 27lbs 5oz from Peg number 6. David fished the long pole at 16m all day using 6mm & 8mm hard pellets up against the reed on the far bank. Second place on the day was Trevor Walker with 20lbs 15oz from peg number 4. Trevor fished 6mm pellets on both the method feeder to the far bank and on a pole line of top 2 + 3. Third place was Pete Wray with 19lb 13oz from peg number 10. Pete fished the pole at 14m on 6mm pellets and top 2 + 3 on Maggot and expanders.
