The clubs Horseshoe lake was the venue for the first round of the Wade Cup and was fished as an evening match. This trophy is fished over three rounds all on the same venue and is won by the angler with the highest aggregate weight. The match winner was Tony Johnson on peg 16 who caught carp and bream, tactics were up in the water with 8mm pellet and across to the far bank on the feeder with a wafter pellet for the carp, and worm over micro pellet for the bream giving him a weight of 61lb 8oz. Second place went to Ray Torrington on peg 40 who caught on the feeder and in the margins to take an all carp catch of 39lb 3oz. Third was Nigel Collis on peg 17 catching carp and bream on worm over pellet for 34lb 10oz.
