Twenty one anglers today, which is a record number for the Winter Series during my short tenure. It was the River Nene on the Club’s own stretch at Sibson and almost every usable peg in the draw. Sunny sky and light wind conditions, with the river starting to slow and lose its colour after the recent rain.
Anglers competed in round 3 of the Deeping Individual League Series (DILS) and match 2 of the Dave Dawkins River Cup.
DILS is based over 5 club days and is awarded to the angler with the best points total from four of the five matches.
Dave Dawkins River Cup is a new trophy that is being fished for the very first time this year. In honour of the late Dave Dawkins, a club bailiff for many years around the Crowland area. The trophy will be fished over 2 rounds with the highest combined weight from the 2 rounds.
Ray Torrington led the way today with an impressive 12lb 3oz from peg number 13. Ray fished Hemp and Tares on the 4m and 6m Whip lines.
Second Place was Antony Johnson with 10lb 1oz from peg number 11. Also fishing the Whip at 5m with Maggot over Groundbait.
Antony’s 10lb 1oz added to his previous 10lb 6oz mean he gets the prestigious position of first name on the Dave Dawkins River cup.
Third place was Peter Wray with 8lb 15oz from peg number 8. Pete fished the pole at 12.5m and 7m with Maggot over Groundbait.
