WORK PARTY Saturday 25th October 2025 Lake Shut for Chalking All Day
Match Result: Sunday 19th October 2025 Venue: DSJAC Horseshoe Lake Mild and quite still conditions, but with the forecast of light rain throughout the day for the Nine anglers at the club’s own Horseshoe Lake. Very autumnal, with the leaves starting to drop and considerable less visible activity of the lake’s inhabitants. A warm welcome was given to club member Henry Bearne, who had purchased a day ticket, but decided to join the match. Today would be the 3rd and final round of this year's Wade Cup. Fished over 3 rounds on Horseshoe Lake combining each angler's weight. The Wade Cup was donated by Roland Wade who was the club solicitor, the current holder is Stuart Baxter. Also today, the anglers would be competing for the Les Wiles Trophy, this one is in recognition of Les Wiles who was a former DSJAC Committee Member, current holder is Mick Wright. First place on the day went to Antony Johnson with 81lb 12oz from peg number 19. Antony fished the Hybrid feeder with Wafter over micro pellets, switching to a pellet waggler to take a few of the fish that did show on the surface. Second Place went to Stuart Baxter with 37lb 8oz from peg number 18. Stuart opted for his favourite approach with dog biscuit after no bites from his feeder line. Third place to Jason Chatham with 28lb 4oz from Peg number 16. Jason caught on Hybrid feeder and 11m pole line. Ray Torrington’s lead into the final round of the Wade Cup could not be caught, earning him the 2025 Wade Cup Title by over 65lb. Match Result: Sunday 5th October 2025 Venue: Rookery Waters, Jay Lake Storm Amy had brought strong winds and rain to much of the UK and its remnants were felt at Rookery Waters for this Away Day Cup. Only seven anglers were available and there was a lot of space to spread out around Jay Lake. Pete Wray is the current Away Day Cup holder, winning it last year by a clear margin at the Marshland St James Buttonhole Lake. It was to be “title retained” and another fine demonstration in very difficult blustery conditions. Pete finished with 38lbs 6oz from corner peg 11. Fishing at 14.5m on the pole either side of the far bank tree, Pete scaled down hook, line and bait sizes after lots of jittery bites. He fished 4mm hard pellets over micros and opted for 2″ over depth. Second place on the day to Jason Chatham who finished with 20lbs 6oz from corner peg 8. Jason fished worm over micros at 13m on the pole between the two trees. Full Result 1st Pete Wray 38 lbs 6 oz – Peg No. 11 2nd Jason Chatham 20 lbs 6 oz – Peg No. 8 3rd Lee Annis 10 lbs 0 oz – Peg No. 5 4th Trevor Walker 1 lbs 8 oz – Peg No. 15 5th Ray Torrington 0 lbs 15 oz – Peg No. 2 =6th Phil Price DNW – Peg No. 13 =6th Neil Speechley DNW – Peg No. 17

Match Result: Sunday 7th September 2025 Venue: DSJAC Horseshoe Lake With September being the new peak holiday season, it was decided to use the club’s own Horseshoe Lake rather than book one of the commercials. Nine anglers were available, and the warm southern wind made for a pleasant temperature. Today the anglers would be competing for the Jim Measures Memorial Trophy. Jim Measures was a former club committee member and even Chairman for a time. He was a leading club member in donating and purchasing the shares in the Several Fisheries, which is the River Welland through the Deepings. Also, down to the luck of the post match draw bag, anglers would be entered into the Annual Pairs Cup. Ray Torrington retained his Jim Measures Memorial Trophy crown and also won the Pairs Cup with Neil Speechley. Ray finished with 94lbs 15oz from the same peg he fished and won the last Horseshoe Lake match, peg 16. Changing from his planned and previous approach he found fish on the method feeder to the far bank using micros and wafters. Second place went to Antony Johnson with 68lbs 13oz from peg number 13. Antony chose to heavily feed his far bank marker before placing his hybrid feeder inches from the far bank. Micros and 6 or 10mm wafter were the most productive. Third place went to guest angler Stuart Redman with 44lbs 9oz from peg number 19. Stuart found most of his success with the pellet wagler at distance using 8mm pellets Full Result 1st Ray Torrington 94 lbs 15 oz – Peg No. 16 2nd Antony Johnson 68 lbs 13 oz – Peg No. 13 3rd Stuart Redman 44 lbs 9 oz – Peg No. 19 4th Stuart Baxter 37 lbs 2 oz – Peg No. 37 5th Neil Speechley 27 lbs 10 oz – Peg No. 18 =6th Jason Chatham 21 lbs 1 oz – Peg No. 12 =6th Trevor Walker 21 lbs 1 oz – Peg No. 39 8th Pete Wray 18 lbs 14 oz – Peg No. 34 9th Dylan Baxter DNW – Peg No. 15 Pairs Cup Result 1st Ray Torrington & Neil Speechley – Total Weight 122 lbs 9 oz 2nd Antony Johnson & Stuart Baxter – Total Weight 105 lbs 15 oz 3rd Trevor Walker & Pete Wray – Total Weight 39 lbs 15oz 4th Jason Chatham & Dylan Baxter – Total Weight 21 lbs 1oz
Pegs 10 and 11 at Horseshoe Lake received a nice little detail today on top of the plastic platforms. Hopefully stop a few more precious items from falling in. BIG Thanks to everyone who came down to the work party again today.

Match Result: Sunday 17th August 2025 Venue: Decoy Lake - Lou's Second visit of the 2025-26 season to Decoy Lakes near Whittlesey for this club day event. The last time we fished Lou’s Lake was July 2020 and we were just emerging from the Covid pandemic. Twelve anglers booked in for the tight horseshoe shaped Lake which is always good for the close social atmosphere. It would be the fourth and final round of the Fenland Cup with current holder Pete Wray hoping for a disaster for the 4 anglers above him to retain his title. Current Leader Jason Chatham needed to finish 5th place or higher with many other permutations for the anglers below needed to take the Cup. Today, anglers would also be competing in the Dennis Clarke Cup, which was donated by Nobby Clarke who owned the tackle shop in Deeping St James. The current holder of this cup is Pete Wray. Drawing the “flyer” doesn’t always mean it’s in the bag, but Pete Wray set off quickly in this match from peg number 6. Pete fished a hard 6mm pellet at 13m on the pole over 4mm pellets. Later in the match he switched to closer in on 2+2 and then just top kit on 6mm pellets to finish with 120lbs 13oz to retain his Dennis Clarke Cup title. Second place on the day and Fenland Cup Winner was Jason Chatham. Jason could not get any fish to feed on the deck and switched to 6mm pellets shallow at 13m against the bank on peg number 1. Jason finished with 82lbs 4oz with the majority of the weight coming in the last 2 hours. Third place went to Phil Price with 54lbs 1oz from peg number 10. With the fish not taking up in the water on his pellet waggler, Phil switched to rotating his margins with cat meat to the left and dead reds to the right. Full Result 1st Pete Wray 120 lbs 13 oz – Peg No. 6 2nd Jason Chatham 82 lbs 4 oz – Peg No. 1 3rd Phil Price 54 lbs 1 oz – Peg No. 10 4th Lee Annis 46 lbs 6 oz – Peg No. 12 5th David Marzell 43 lbs 15 oz – Peg No. 13 6th Trevor Walker 39 lbs 6 oz – Peg No. 2 7th Paul Sugarman 36 lbs 13 oz – Peg No. 11 8th Neil Speechley 34 lbs 9 oz – Peg No. 9 9th Andy Wilson (chairman) 29 lbs 6 oz – Peg No. 3 10th Joe Price 29 lbs 2 oz – Peg No. 5 11th Paul Wild 26 lbs 9 oz – Peg No. 7 12th Ray Torrington 22 lbs 7 oz – Peg No. 4
