Match Result - Sunday 21st December Venue - DSJAC Horseshoe Lake It’s that festive time of the year again, where we battle the UK weather and the impact it has on the river levels. Originally scheduled for December 7th, this annual Fur and Feather match was delayed like last year due to the high level of December rainfall. Plan A today was skipped due to the raging river, plan B due to not enough pegs available on the Refuge, so plan C and Horseshoe Lake it was. Declared a silvers only match the fourteen anglers were spread right around the lake. This would be the first of five matches used to gain points for the Deeping Individual League Series (DILS). Current DILS champion Alan Thomas would be looking to get off to a good start in the competition he dominated last year. First place on the day was David Pike with an impressive 9lb 13oz from peg number 30. David landed 3 Bream and a bunch of Roach fishing the pole at 11m in front of the islands. Using dead red maggots as hook bait, fished over Green F1 sweet and sweet skimmer ground bait. It wasn’t until the last 45 minutes of the match David realised that he was being watched by the lake Crocodile ! Second place to Paul Dotchin with 3lb 12oz of Roach from peg number 11. Paul fished the pole and the waggler using single pinkie., Third place to Derek Drover with 2lb 12oz from peg number 15. Derek had a single bream and some Roach fishing the pole. Sections wins for Ian Benton & Jason Chatham + Steve Borrett Full Result 1st David Pike 9 lbs 13 oz – Peg No. 30 2nd Paul Dotchin 3 lbs 12 oz – Peg No. 11 3rd Derek Drover 2 lbs 12 oz – Peg No. 15 =4th Jason Chatham 2 lbs 8 oz – Peg No. 13 =4th Ian Benton 2 lbs 8 oz – Peg No. 18 6th Steve Borrett 2 lbs 4 oz – Peg No. 27 7th Antony Johnson 1 lbs 12 oz – Peg No. 9 8th Mick Fowkes 1 lbs 1 oz – Peg No. 7 9th Stephen Smith 0 lbs 6 oz – Peg No. 16 10th Alan Thomas 0 lbs 4 oz – Peg No. 32 11th Lyndsay Horsman 0 lbs 3 oz – Peg No. 24 12th Alfie Kendall 0 lbs 2 oz – Peg No. 22 13th Neil Halliwell 0 lbs 1 oz – Peg No. 38 14th Neil Speechley DNW – Peg No. 19
