Match Result: Sunday 25th October 2026 Venue: DSJAC Horseshoe Lake A dry and sunny day greeted the anglers for the last match of the 2026 Summer series. However, the second of 2 storms “Boelo” was predicted to bring strong gusty winds to the region. Only Six anglers braved the conditions and plenty of shelter was found around Horseshoe Lake to make things more bearable. Today was the third and final round of the Wade Cup as well as the Les Wiles Trophy. The Wade Cup was donated by Roland Wade who was the club solicitor, involved in the accumulation of shares for the River Welland Several Fisheries, the solicitors then became part of a practice in Peterborough and held the Several Fisheries deeds for some time. The deeds are now lodged at the Land Registry. The Wade Cup is fished over three matches on Horseshoe Lake and awarded to the angler with the highest aggregate weight. The current Wade Cup holder is Ray Torrington who finished 70lbs clear of second place angler Antony Johnson with a total weight of 240lbs 3oz. Les Wiles was a very committed club and committee member that lived in Peterborough and donated the Trophy to the club. The current Les Wiles trophy holder is Antony Johnson who finished with 44lbs clear of second place angler Stuart Baxter with 81lbs 12oz in this same match last year. First place on the day went to Dave Preston. Dave finished the match with 92lbs 10oz from Peg number 16 fishing a hybrid feeder to the far bank with dark pink wafter. Switching to a margin line with worms over micros and similar tactics on top 2 in front of his keepnets. Second was Jason Chatham with 37lbs 5 oz. Jason also fished a hybrid feeder to the far bank with pink wafter, switching to a 8m line on corn. It was really close in the Wade Cup, Jason Chatham finished just 12 oz ahead of Dave Preston. Match Result: Sunday 18th October 2026 Venue: Rookery Waters - Raven Lake Finally the long hot summer of 2026 has come to an end and autumn temperatures have arrived along with some much needed rain. Rookery Waters and the U shaped Raven Lake was the destination for this year's Away Day Cup. Breakfast for some in the award winning Rookery Cafe, before heading upstairs to the well stocked Tackle and Bates shop. Seven anglers competed in the away day cup, with Pete Wray looking to retain his crown from 2025 and make it 3 years in a row. First place went to Dave Preston, continuing his excellent run of form in 2026. Dave finished with 84lb 13oz from corner peg number 18. Fishing light on top 2+2 with white maggots feeding maggots over the top. Then switched to long down the edge big potting maggots and some micros and fishing bunches of maggots over the top. Second Place to Pete Wray with 74lb 15oz from peg number 6. Pete fished over 4mm hard pellets with 6mm hard pellets on the hook across, in shallow and deep swims. Switching to 2 maggot lines at 2 + 2, caught carp across until they disappeared, then caught F1s on the maggot swims. Match Result: Sunday 20th September 2026 Venue: DSJAC River Nene Stibbington Fine and settled weather for the river anglers on the Stibbington stretch of the River Nene. Fifteen turned out for this one and a lot of effort had gone into preparing the heavily weeded section. Today anglers would be competing in the Jim Measures Memorial Trophy. Jim was a leading club member in donating and purchasing the shares in the Several Fisheries (Deeping St James River Welland). Jim was a staunch member of the club and committee, and was Chairman for a time. With current holder Ray Torrington not available for today's match, it would be a new name on the trophy for next year. Lots of aggressive Pike showing all along the stretch making it difficult for anglers to keep the fish coming. Plenty of hooks were lost, but most species of coarse fish were caught from Minnows to Bream. Stephen Smith was the winner on the day with 4lb 8oz from peg number 13. Stephen fished the 4M whip on double pinkie over groundbait Joint second place to David Norville and Paul Dotchin with 4lb 3oz from peg numbers 18 and 5. David fished pinkie over ground bait using the pole, with Paul fishing similar on 6m pole line on pinkie over groundbait. Fourth place to Ian Benton with 3lb 12 oz from peg number 2. Ian rotated through worm, caster and pinkie over ground bait. Match Result: Sunday 6th September 2026 Venue: DSJAC Horseshoe Lake and River Nene Not many club’s can hold a competition in this format by using their own Lake and River stretch to fish a pairs match. Following on from the successful trial last winter, we decided to fish the Annual Pairs Cup on 2 different venues. All anglers got to choose their preferred venue and with a little adjustment everyone got their first choice. Split nicely with 6 anglers on Horseshoe lake and 6 anglers fishing the Sibson stretch of the River Nene adjacent to the lake. Normal draw for each venue, but a post match draw would decide on the parings. Antony Johnson led the way on the lake with 151 lbs 8 oz from peg number 19. Antony fished a hybrid feeder and pink wafter over particles. Starting at 23m, dropping back to 15m and finishing in the margin. On the river Stephen Smith finished with 9lb exactly just 2 oz ahead of Second place Dave Preston. Stephen fished the 4m whip on hemp changing to single maggot towards the end over ground bait. MASSIVE THANK YOU To all the members that turned up for a wet bank holiday weekend work party. Stibbington - All 23 River Pegs given a strim, Grass cut and car parks cleared. Roadside grass cut. Some pegs even got a raking. Sibson - Pegs and walkways strimmed, trees trimmed back. Couple of pegs repaired and a new peg created in the high 20's !!
