Match Result - Sunday 4th January 2026 Venue - DSJAC River Nene Sibson Minus 5 degrees was the new year temperature down on the River Nene at Sibson. Sixteen hardy souls expecting the highest of weights from the very in form stretch. But with a wind chill and subsequent overnight frosts from recent days would the fish respond ? The colour from the pre Christmas rainfall had just started to drop out of the water. The flow had dropped to a more normal speed. Today the anglers were competing in round 2 of the Deeping Individual League Series (DILS) looking for more valuable points. Also today was the first round of the Dawkins River Cup, fished over 2 rounds for a best combined weight. First place from the inform peg was last year's DILS & Dawkins River Cup winner Alan Thomas. Alan finished way ahead of the rest of the field with 11lb 8oz from Peg number 12. The Waggler was Alan’s method 3/4 of the way across fished over loose fed maggots. Joint second place with 6lbs 6oz was David Norville and Paul Dotchin. David fished peg number 11 using a pole at 7m with pinkie over ground bait. Paul fishing peg number 17 in his own words “watched Des closely and did whatever he didn’t !”. Which was mostly pole at 8m with pinkies. Joint third place (fourth !) with 4lb 12oz was Alf Kendall and Mick Wright. Alf bight less for most of the match, was packing up and “chucked” it down the middle for one last try, sprayed some red maggots and finished with 2 nice Chub from peg 6. Mick caught consistently for the match using a stick float in the flow over maggots from peg number 10. Section Winners were Jason Chatham, Dan Chamberlain and David Pike Full Result 1st Alan Thomas 11 lbs 8 oz – Peg No. 12 =2nd David Norville 6 lbs 6 oz – Peg No. 11 =2nd Paul Dotchin 6 lbs 6 oz – Peg No. 16 =4th Alfie Kendall 4 lbs 12 oz – Peg No. 6 =4th Mick Wright 4 lbs 12 oz – Peg No. 10 6th Jason Chatham 4 lbs 6 oz – Peg No. 18 7th Antony Johnson 2 lbs 14 oz – Peg No. 15 8th Daniel Chamberlain 2 lbs 13 oz – Peg No. 8 9th Des Dalton 2 lbs 10 oz – Peg No. 17 10th David Pike 2 lbs 2 oz – Peg No. 27 =11th Steve Borrett 0 lbs 8 oz – Peg No. 21 =11th Derek Drover 0 lbs 8 oz – Peg No. 24 =13th Lyndsay Horsman DNW – Peg No. 14 =13th Joe Brudenell DNW – Peg No. 19 =13th Ian Benton DNW – Peg No. 20 =13th Andy P Wilson DNW – Peg No. 25
