Club Cup
Eleven anglers were supposed to fish at Float Fish Farm on Horseshoe Pool, but due to an algae bloom we re-arranged and fished at DSJAC Horseshoe Lake Sunday 18th May 2025
The overall winner from one of the hot pegs was Phil Price. Drawing peg number 19 his much-favoured surface controller and dog biscuit would be his go to method. Despite finishing with 103lbs 5oz, Phil still bemoaned the many fish that got away.
Doxam Committee Rosebowl
Seventeen anglers fished at Decoy on Horseshoe Lake Sunday 1st June 2025
The overall winner and new name on the Doxam Trophy was Club Match Secretary Jason Chatham, finishing with 47lb 8oz from peg number 18. Jason Fished method feeder to the far bank using F1 sweet micros and 7mm Pink Wowsers.
Individual Knockout Trophy
Final round also fished on Sunday 1st June 2025 at Decoy
A 3-way final between last year’s finalists Stuart Baxter and Ray Torrington along with Jason Chatham.
Jason’s win at Decoy securing his name on this trophy for a second time.
The “weigh in” team apologised to Jason, emptying the weigh sack before his moment of glory in front of the camera, with his catch.
Exeter Trophy
Twelve anglers fished at Kingsland on the Silvers Lake Sunday 15th June 2025
Finishing in first place on the day and adding a second 10 point tally to the Fenland Cup was Jason Chatham, finishing with 45lb 9oz from Peg number 5. Jason caught the majority of his weight during the afternoon in the margins on sweetcorn using top 2 +1.
John Harris Memorial Cup
Ten Anglers fished at Float Fish Farm on Captain Toms Sunday 6th July 2025
David Pike finished in first place with 27lbs 5oz from Peg number 6. David fished the long pole at 16m all day using 6mm & 8mm hard pellets up against the reed on the far bank.
Newman Cup
Eight anglers fished at Kingsland on the Small Lake Sunday 20th July 2025
Ray Torrington was the man to beat today landing an impressive 218lb 7oz in a 5 net haul. Should have been slightly higher, but a few pounds and ounces over in a couple of nets saw them rounded down. Ray stuck with 6mm hard pellets on the top 2. Second place on the day was junior member Dylan Baxter with 155lb 7oz.
Committee Cup
Fished at Kingsland on the Small Lake Sunday 20th July 2025
Winner of the Committee Cup with his 218lb was Ray Torrington beating the Chairman by 110lbs.
Middle Nene Team Championships
Organised by Nene Anglers and fished in teams of 3 at 3 Venues – Fotheringhay, Pilton and Wadenhoe on Saturday 19th July 2025
Joint Second on points but awarded 3rd place on weight for Deeping St James Angling Club was Antony Johnson, Stuart Redman and Jason Chatham.
John Slack Memorial Cup
Fished at DSJAC Horseshoe Lake SATURDAY 9th August 2025 as an evening match
First place on the day was Ray Torrington with 136lbs 1oz from peg number 16. Ray fished a floating pellet on the pole, switching to paste in the margins later on.
Dennis Clarke Cup
Twelve anglers fished at Decoy Lakes on Lou’s Sunday 17th August 2025
Drawing the “flyer” doesn’t always mean it’s in the bag, but Pete Wray set off quickly in this match from peg number 6. Pete fished a hard 6mm pellet at 13m on the pole over 4mm pellets. Later in the match he switched to closer in on 2+2 and then just top kit on 6mm pellets to finish with 120lbs 13oz to retain his Dennis Clarke Cup title.
Fenland Cup
Fished at Decoy and Kingsland over 4 rounds with the 4th round at Decoy Lakes on Lou’s Sunday 17th August 2025
Second place on the day, but taking a further 9 points, giving him 32 points out of a possible 40 and 8 points clear of second place the Fenland Cup Winner was Jason Chatham. Jason finished with 82lbs 4oz with the majority of the weight coming in the last 2 hours.
Jim Measures Memorial Trophy
Fished at DSJAC Horseshoe Lake on Sunday 7th September 2025
Ray Torrington finished with 94lbs 15oz from the same peg he fished and won the last Horseshoe Lake match, peg 16. Changing from his planned and previous approach he found fish on the method feeder to the far bank using micros and wafters.
Pairs Cup
Fished at DSJAC Horseshoe Lake on Sunday 7th September 2025
Ray Torrington and Neil Speechley were drawn in the Pairs Cup and with a combined weight of 122lbs 9oz finished 17lb clear of second place.
The Angling Trust Eastern Shield Regional Shield
Very challenging for most of the teams 6 anglers, with 3 anglers blanking, but credit to Antony Johnson for taking the overall Individual Winner for 2025 with 24lb 4oz.
Away Day Cup
Seven anglers fished at Rookery Waters on Jay Lake on Sunday 5th October 2025
It was to be “title retained” and another fine demonstration in very difficult blustery conditions by Pete Wray. Pete finished with 38lbs 6oz from corner peg 11. Fishing at 14.5m on the pole either side of the far bank tree, peter scaled down hook, line and bait sizes after lots of jittery bites. He fished 4mm hard pellets over micros and opted for 2″ over depth
Les Wiles Trophy
Fished at DSJAC Horseshoe Lake on Sunday 19th October 2025
First place on the day went to Antony Johnson with 81lb 12oz from peg number 19. Antony fished the Hybrid feeder with Wafter over micro pellets, switching to a pellet waggler to take a few of the fish that did show on the surface.
Wade Cup
Fished over 3 rounds at DSJAC Horseshoe Lake.
Ray Torrington’s lead into the final round of the Wade Cup could not be caught, earning him the 2025 Wade Cup Title by over 65lb.
New Format Pairs Competition
Fished on Horseshoe Lake and the River Nene on Sunday 2nd November, allowing anglers to choose their favoured style.
Organised by David Pike the winning pair on the day was Phil Price and Andrew Thomas.
Remembrance Shield
Fifteen anglers Fished on DSJAC River Nene stretch Sibson on Sunday 9th November 2025
This year’s winner is Paul Dotchin with 10lb 15oz from Peg number 17. Paul rotated through multiple methods to keep the fish coming. Waggler to the far bank on red maggot, 8m pole line on pinkie and a top 3 margin line for his fine catch of Perch
Fur & Feather
Eventually fished on Sunday 21st December on SAJAC Horseshoe Lake due to flooding on the rivers (again)
David Pike took the victory in this non cup winning match with 9lb 13oz from peg number 30. David landed 3 Bream and a bunch of Roach fishing the pole at 11m in front of the islands. Using dead red maggots as hook bait, fished over Green F1 sweet and sweet skimmer ground bait.
Dawkins River Cup
Fished on the River Nene at Sibson in January and the Old Nene at Benwick (eventually) in February
Retaining his crown the Dawkins Rivers cup winner for 2024/2025 season was Alan Thomas. Alan finished with 19lb 13 oz over the 2 rounds winning by a margin of 4lb over second place.
Several Fisheries Championship
Would normally be on the River Welland, but this year on the Fish refuge at Stibbington due to flood conditions.
First Place on the day went to Mick Wright with 2lb 2oz from Peg number 2.
Deeping Individual League Series (DILS)
The angler with the highest points totals from any four rounds of the five rounds fished December – March
Fished on the River Nene at Sibson, the Fish Refuge at Stibbington as well as the old Nene at Benwick
David Norville’s third place in the fifth and final round gave him two second places and two third places in DILS overall, sealing him the 2025/2026 DILS trophy, his first trophy since winning the Newman Cup in 2016/2017. His final best 4 rounds gave him victory over Paul Dotchin by just one point.
Non-Cup Winner Cup
A trophy that is fished for at the last match of the season and this year on the rising and challenging River Nene on the very last day of the 2025/2026 rivers season.
With first place on the day Steve Borrett with 5lb 7oz from peg number 21. Steve fished the 4m whip with pinkies over ground bait and hemp. Catching mostly Roach, he also landed a 2lb Perch on Worm. Steve’s win secured him the 2025/2026 Non Cup Winners Cup.
Billing Challenge Cup
An Anglers best 3 Summer weights plus best 3 winter weights in 2025/2026
This year’s winner with 458lbs 14 oz is Ray Torrington. Rays summer weights put him 180lb clear of second place.
Club Champion
Fished over 10 points matches in both the Summer and Winter during 2025 / 2026
Last year’s winner was Jason Chatham and he retains the title with a slightly higher points total than last year of 76 points and 20 points over second place Ray Torrington.
Specimen Cup
Best Specimen fish caught in 2025 / 2026
Some big Carp were caught during the summer months at various venues, Joe Price with a 10lb 8oz fish from Decoy’s Lous, Ray Torrington with a 13lb 2oz from DSJAC Horseshoe and the biggest weighed by Garry Botterill with a 13lb 8 oz from Decoy’s Horseshoe.
But this year’s award goes to a real specimen fish caught in the last match of the season on the swelling River Nene at Sibson. Ray Torrington’s 1lb 12oz Rudd.
Russel Hole Cup
The Russel Hole Trophy is given to a member of the club identified as going beyond what is expected of a club or committee member.
This year for taking over the running of the club’s secretarial duties at short notice and handling a so far successful membership renewal period the award goes to Jason Chatham.
