The annual evening match time on DSJAC’s own Horseshoe Lake, sixteen anglers lined up for this one on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Members extended a warm welcome to Jonny Newborough on his first match with the club and also welcomed back Mike Moseley to the fixture list.
Today was the second round of the Wade Cup as well as the John Slack Memorial Cup. With current Wade Cup holder Ray Torrington not available for this round, current leader Jason Chatham would be looking to build on his first round weight. Ray would also be losing his title of the John Slack Memorial Cup to today’s winner.
The John Slack Memorial Cup was donated to the club by Long Standing committee member John Slack.
The Wade Cup is fished over three rounds on Horseshoe Lake and awarded to the angler with the best combined weight from the three rounds. The Wade Cup was donated by Roland Wade who was the club solicitor, involved in the accumulation of shares for the River Welland Several Fisheries. The solicitors then became part of a practice in Peterborough and held the Several Fisheries deeds for some time. The deeds are now lodged at the Land Registry.
